About Peter P. Sotolongo:
Peter P. Sotolongo was born in Cuba but migrated to the United States with his parents in 1980, at the age of nine, looking for the American Dream. Mr. Sotolongo graduated from Miami Senior High School before attending college in New York City, where he received a Bachelors’ Degree in Criminal Justice, from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Thereafter, Mr. Sotolongo moved back to Miami and became a Bailiff in the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, where he worked with a trial Judge for approximately four years. During this time, Mr. Sotolongo had the privilege of observing hundreds of jury trials. Knowing this was his calling, Mr. Sotolongo applied and was accepted to Nova S.E. University, Shepard Broad Law Center, where he obtained the degree of Juris Doctor.
immediately after receiving his law degree, Mr. Sotolongo went to work for a large (40 to 50 attorney) law firm defending hospitals and nursing homes against wrongful death law suits for five years. After winning his first jury trial (a wrongful death case) Mr. Sotolongo was quickly promoted to become the firm’s first and only Trial Coordinating Counsel - responsible for assuring that all cases set for trial were properly prepared for trial.
Mr. Sotolongo felt a void for the work he always wanted to do – representing Plaintiff’s in need of help. Looking for his calling, Mr. Sotolongo left his friends at the firm and went to work as a Plaintiff’s lawyer representing injured maritime workers. He reports that he has never been happier in his law career. Mr. Sotolongo believes that he is connected, as he says, to his international family (the crew members he represents) because he can relate to their plight and struggle for a better way of life.
Mr. Sotolongo started The Sotolongo Law Firm because he truly cares. Mr. Sotolongo would love the opportunity to represent you. Come and join our extended international family – you won’t regret it.
